I Left My Heart in Baguio

Have you ever gone somewhere where you feel like you badly want to return immediately? Like, you are so attached and you miss it so much. For me, that is Baguio. I've been to Baguio once for Panagbenga Festival last year. I wasn't expecting to like love it this much. For some, Baguio is a great destination because of its cold weather and cheap fresh strawberries or because it is said to be the summer capital of the Philippines. But for me, it is the place to be.

Baguio has its own kind of beauty, the old city vibe, calmness amidst the festivities, and this certain homey and welcoming feeling. I'm in love with Baguio more than you ever know. It's been more than a year since the trip and it seems like I left my being. All the memories, the one-week long separation anxiety I had, it all feels like it was yesterday. I like everything about it from A to Z. The cultural heritage is very much alive, the nature that calms the soul, the mountain ranges, even the zigzag, the 6-hour drive, the food, the weather of course, and the cheap strawberries. Of course, it is more than that. I can't stress enough how much I love it there. Setting aside the fact that Paulo Avelino is from Baguio. When we visited Baguio, I wasn't aware of that fact.

If someone would call a trip at this hour, I would come. Our trip did not give much justice how incredible this place is. We did the touristy stuff and wasn't able to fully appreciate what it has to offer. You are amazing. I'll come back, stay longer, and fall in love even harder.

P.S. People of Benguet, please please please take care of your mountains. Also a note to all tourists. Let us all be responsible.

P.P.S. Will definitely visit Balanghay ni Ikeng Theatre at Ili Likha Artist Village, Ben Cab's Museum, and some fancy cafes, historical places, and find some quiet time and be with nature, as always.

This post is most likely to be very short. I've been trying to write longer but my heart is just so full hfsjfsdfhksjdskfjskdfh. I cannot contain my words. I don't mind the long hours of travel, please just take me back. More photos below and links to related visual diaries.

I hope you can visit Baguio if you haven't. It's worth it. I promise.

  1. It saddens me to say that I have never been to Baguio but now I want to because I love cold weathers and strawberries. I hope I can have time to travel there someday, maybe with a little persuasion I can encourage my parents to come with me or maybe bring a few friends along, I have heard a lot of good things about Baguio so maybe they would be enticed as well. I have not yet been attached to any place aside from home, I should really travel around more.

    Have a great weekend.

  4. To be honest, I visit Baguio at least once or twice a year but never have I ever gone strawberry picking! Might as well try this as soon as the rainy days are over <3
